Welcome to the Nierenberg Hall Business Office web site! Our fund managers, pre-award coordinators, management and student staff will be the support hub of the research efforts of over 44 Principle Investigators & Faculty, plus another 230 personel including Staff, Post-Doc's, Programmer Analysts, Student Graduate Assistants, Development Engineers, and Research Associates in the following four divisions of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography; Physical Oceanography Research Division (PORD), Climate Research Division (CRD), Center for Atmospheric Science (CAS), and the California Space Institute (CSI), and the California Space Institute - Statewide.

We are responsible for management support to our PI's for approximately $25 million in extramural funds & contract expenditures per year. We service grants and contracts from many funding agencies, including NASA, ONR, NOAA, NSF, NAVSEA, and others, and prepare some 90 award proposals per year. Additionally we provide support to the fabrication operations of the Instrumental Development Group (IDG) which builds and deploys most of the world's data collecting sounding observers (SOLO's) which were designed, developed, and are continuously improved here at SIO.

Our office culture is one of friendly, responsive, and knowledgeable support to our clients who include, foremost, the researchers and faculty we assist, the administration of SIO, the administration of UCSD & UC, and our office-mates.
